BUSINESSWOMAN AND LEADER LINDA KETNER SPEAKING TO THE COMMUNITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AIKEN

Linda Ketner, Charleston, SC businesswoman and long-time political activist will be speaking at the University of South Carolina Aiken on September 24 at 6 p.m. in the Student Activities Center Mezzanine.

The USC Aiken Unity Alliance is very excited to be bringing well-known leader and philanthropist Ketner to Aiken. Ketner will be speaking about the Four E's: Education, Economics, Energy, and Equality.

Ketner, is known for being a strong leader in the Charleston area and statewide. In 2008, she was the Democratic Candidate in the US House District 1 race, losing by 2 percent to a 4-term incumbent in a strongly Republican District. This was the closest race in 30 years in that district.  Ketner was also the founder of one-laptop per child project in SC. Additionally her efforts lead to passage of the SC house trust fund bill.  She is also a founder of the Alliance for Full Acceptance in Charleston, and SC Equality, the statewide GLBT education and advocacy organization.

Ketner holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; M.A. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro; and has completed work toward her Ph.D at both Duke and Emory Universities in Sociology.  Her area of study is Organization and Leadership.

Ketner couldn't be coming at a better time since the University has embarked on a "green" initiative and recently has faced many budget cuts. Her insight on the four E's should be inspiring to all members of the community. Unity invites and encourages all members of the community to attend on Thursday September 24.
For more information, questions, or to arrange a sit-down with Linda Ketner please contact Neil Bridgers 706-399-4858 or neilbridgers@gmail.com.
